Strong Quarter Validates North American Strategy
Rush Street Interactive delivered Q3 2026 financial results showing revenue of $187.4 million, representing 22% year-over-year growth and exceeding analyst projections by 3%. The Chicago-based operator attributed growth to expanded market presence in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, plus strong iGaming adoption in its proprietary BetRivers platform.
Adjusted EBITDA reached $42.3 million, a 28% increase year-over-year, demonstrating improving unit economics as the operator scales across mature regulated markets. Management highlighted customer acquisition cost (CAC) efficiency improvements driven by brand recognition and repeat customer retention strength.
The company operates sportsbooks and iGaming platforms under the BetRivers brand across six states, with PlayStar (its premium iGaming platform) generating the highest average customer lifetime value of any RSI product line.
European Exploration Underway
During the earnings call, CEO Richard Schwartz confirmed that Rush Street has begun preliminary market research in the UK, Spain, and Germany—three of Europe's largest regulated markets. The company explicitly stated that formal licensing applications and platform localization would not occur before 2027, but internal strategic planning for European entry is now active.
This represents RSI's first public confirmation of international expansion intent. The company has historically focused exclusively on North American opportunities, building deep expertise in state-by-state regulatory navigation. European entry would require fundamentally different operational models, including currency management, payment processing partnerships, and marketing strategy localization.
Analysts note that European expansion would dramatically increase RSI's addressable market. North American regulated sportsbook and iGaming markets are projected to reach $8-10 billion annually by 2028. European markets exceed $20 billion in combined regulated opportunity.
Competitive Context and Strategic Implications
RSI's European exploration announcement arrives as larger competitors (DraftKings, FanDuel parent Flutter) have already established European platforms. RSI's late entry into European markets would require either acquisition of existing platforms or greenfield build-outs requiring significant capital deployment.
The company's strong cash generation position—with $310 million in cash reserves reported at quarter-end—positions RSI to fund European entry without diluting existing North American operations. Management indicated that capital deployment decisions would be made by Q2 2027 following the market research phase.
Wall Street reacted positively to the earnings results and international expansion signals. RSI's stock closed up 4.2% on the earnings announcement, suggesting investor confidence in both current execution and future growth vectors.
