Stripe Enters iGaming With MGA Operator Partnerships

Stripe has cleared regulatory hurdles and begun processing deposits for Malta Gaming Authority-licensed operators, marking the fintech leader's formal entry into the iGaming vertical. The San Francisco-based payments giant signed framework agreements with three undisclosed MGA licensees and confirmed public support from Kambi and Genius Sports, signaling broad operator confidence.

The move breaks a decade-long pattern in which legacy payment processors (Worldpay, Paysafe, DLocal) dominated iGaming settlement. Stripe's processing fees are expected to undercut incumbents by 15–25%, triggering immediate competitive response from Paysafe and forcing renegotiations across the operator ecosystem.

Stripe's MGA compliance required 18 months of anti-money laundering, know-your-customer, and responsible gambling infrastructure certification. The fintech firm committed to funding third-party audits of its iGaming flows and to publishing annual transparency reports.

Operators integrated with Stripe report settlement times of 24 hours and advanced reconciliation dashboards that reduce accounting friction. Entain, one of the world's largest operator groups, has begun testing Stripe integrations for European markets and may expand deployment if pilots prove operationally sound.

Industry analysts expect PayPal and Square to announce iGaming payment strategies within 12 months, accelerating a sector-wide shift toward fintech-native payment rails. Legacy processors face pressure to upgrade compliance and technology offerings or risk margin compression across their iGaming verticals.
