Stripe accelerated its iGaming payments strategy on October 3rd, announcing support for 15 additional jurisdictions and native local payment method integrations. The expansion specifically targets markets with high unmet demand: Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and others.
For each region, Stripe has integrated local preferred payment methods—bank transfers and e-wallets in Europe, cash payment partnerships in Latin America, and e-wallet dominance in Southeast Asia. Settlement times have been reduced to next-business-day for most methods, compared to 3-5 day settlements that smaller processors typically offer.
This move directly challenges Adyen's historically dominant position in regulated iGaming and pressures Skrill and Neteller on pricing and feature parity. Operators in these markets now have genuine processor alternatives for the first time, creating competitive dynamics that previously didn't exist.
Stripe's advantage lies in its broader merchant infrastructure—it already processes payments for thousands of non-gaming companies in these regions, allowing it to leverage existing compliance relationships and local partnerships. For operators, this translates to faster onboarding, more competitive interchange rates, and reduced regulatory friction.
The expansion signals Stripe's confidence in the long-term legalization trajectory of iGaming globally and positions the company as a primary challenger to traditional gaming-focused payment processors.
